LIMITED LIGHT
For the past 6 years, Paul has been working on “Limited Light,” a collection of black and white portraits of artists. He selected the subjects of these photographs–who have ranged from poets to dancers to painters–based on the artist’s work. Each portrait in this collection was taken in a 60 minute session and shot from the second floor of Paul’s studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Paul shot with a Nikon D7000 and used only natural light to play with shadow and highlights. There is no manipulation or enhancement of any of the photos, so what you see is what Paul saw when he took the photo. Within these pages lay human stories of shifting emotions–a study in limited light.
