For more about Anna’s paintings CLICK HERE

Grand Street, Revisited is a hybrid chapbook of prose, poetry, and visual art and the culmination of a year-long interdisciplinary collaboration between author Paul Rabinowitz and painter Anna Hershinow. In undertaking this project, both Paul and Anna decided to work in parallel to one another, creating two bodies of work, both entitled Grand Street, Revisited. This project underscores the idea that the truth of art can transcend its medium, creating fruitful and valuable conversations among its pieces.

Author Paul Rabinowitz invites his readers to ponder the role of history and memory in Grand Street, Revisited. Rabinowitz’s narrative empowers us to recall our own cherished trajectories as we tangle with profound matters, such as what is and is not fiction and why it might, or might not, matter.

Visual Artist Anna Hershinow invites viewers into her eight large scale abstract paintings, uniquely inspired by each of Rabinowitz's writings. Vivid colors, maximalist layering, and juxtaposition of organic shapes and graphic elements lends itself to Rabinowitz's emotive and narrative storytelling.

Premiere of Magnolia Moon

We are thrilled to present our latest film Magnolia Moon for the very first time in front of a live audience at The Back Room at The Gutter! The film is already being accepted into film festivals internationally, but we just couldn't wait to share it with our friends and arts community.

Magnolia Moon, a film by Georgia Usborne & Julia Discenza based on the poetry / prose piece Little Gem Magnolia by Paul Rabinowitz, is an intimate reflection on the seasons of love through the eyes of two New Orleans artists caught in a complicated romance. Looking back on their time together, Ayva & Max must follow their hearts either towards each other or towards freedom. Brought to life with animation by Ariel E.Grubb, original score composed by Richard Sears with music contributions and sound design by Rowan Spencer, and featuring the music of Shrines, the film weaves movement, poetry and cinema.

Platform 101: Promoting Your Prose

Author Platforms 101: Promoting Your Prose
In the competitive job market, employers look for people with experience. Literary agents and publishers are no different, and the experience they are looking for is called a “platform.” This platform, however, is not just the list of your publications; it’s the sum of your total footprint [or reach] in the publishing world. This panel will help you design your platform and propel you to the next level of your writing and publishing journey.
Literary agents want authors who have an author platform, a ready-made audience that sees you as a talented writer or a topical expert. The writers, editors, and literary nonprofit leaders on this panel will explore how to build that audience and your profile in the publishing world. Strategies include developing an online presence, networking with writers in your genre, connecting with alumni and community organizations and libraries, and reviewing/interviewing more well-known authors in your genre.

Free Form Flash Fiction Webinar for Fiction Writers

Free Form Flash Fiction
Morgantown Writers, Virtual Webinar, Tuesday, April 6th at 6PM (EST)
Paul Rabinowitz will illustrate how a writer can free write through specific techniques, to create deep fresh work. His own writing focuses on details that reveal the true essence of a subject, whether an artist he’s photographing or a fictional character he’s bringing to life. MW admires his writing for its Raymond Carver’s style. Paul has authored Limited Light, which blends prose and photography; and a novella, The Clay Urn (Main Street Rag, 2020). If you are a fiction writer and would like to register send an email to our Media Concierge, Melissa Reynolds: melreyn.mr@gmail.com
